Before and after:
The Purple Rain shoes are almost done. At last I am happy about the patina, quite dandy if I may say so
.
The shoes have a beautiful dark purple colored nose with some lighter spots. Notice the visible parts of the sole have a neutral color, other parts are colored too.
I still need to buy shoe laces!
After a lot of polishing I have (almost) finished one shoe. Here are some pictures I quickly made today (in the rain).
The shoe is not finished yet but I already like the deep purple tones
I wanted the shoe to become darker so I added a little of blue in the red color mix. With aceton I removed some paint of the nose and other parts of the shoe to archieve light and dark spots.
I want to have some more contrast between light and dark so to be continued!
The first layer of paint is applied! I used a dark brown / red color mix and accentuated the perforations.
Ps: this photo is taken with flash so colors may appear brighter and more intense.
This weekend I received a new pair of shoes that I can use to add some exciting patina. As you can see it’s a wholecut with a nice medallion. It’s made of (very) soft leather and has a neutral color so I don’t have to strip them with aceton.
Not sure yet what colors I want to archieve…
Every pair of shoes needs a pair of good quality shoe trees. It’s important the shoe trees are made of aromatic cedar wood so it can dry up your shoes and give it a good smell
Also watch out to buy shoe trees with spring adjustments for a perfect fit every time!
After layers of paint, cream and wax here is the result:
I am very happy with the colors, they really match the autumn and winter. Look closely at the medallion, I accentuated it by adding a touch of dark red.
After this I applied wax, the colors are now more alive. A burnt orange and burgundy mixture becomes visible! Also notice the holes for shoe laces, I colored them dark brown.
